5 Things Successful Women Do On A Friday

All successful women(not claiming that I am successful) know that a Friday night is a bit more important night compared to the other nights of the week. They don’t let the upcoming week phase them, so they make the most of their Friday, although we all know that Fridays are best time to hang out with friends and family, but if you want to be successful you won’t be running towards the nearest bar but planning for the week ahead.


Get Organized

Most successful career girl will always stick to their weekly routine, even on a Friday, even if the cocktails are calling their name. The fun will always come after work for sure, but they also know how to work on their dreams. A person looking for success will plan out her priorities for the upcoming week, whether personal or work related. Spend an hour working on your schedule for the week. This means when you are so out of energy on Monday, you have less to think about because you already scheduled it!

Keep in touch with your networks

Since Friday is all about being social, give yourself a little break by easing up on some numbers and instead turn on your network. Whether it’s clients you need to remain on good terms with or someone new who has a good reputation. Friday is a perfect day to tune in with everyone. Send a message to a friend who just got a promotion or write a friend. Networking is so vital in the working climate, so make the most out of it.

Clean up your files

From a week’s worth of hectic office life. Peers have probably dropped  by your desk with files, loose paper or upcoming projects. Friday is the best time to go through all of the files and clean/organize them all up.  

Get started on bigger projects

Of course Monday is the time to start working on your next big project. But When is the best time to plan for it? Friday of course! Plan for your next big move before you relax in reckless abandon on the weekend. Leave everything work related behind you for Saturday and Sunday!

Leave it all behind

Even the most ambitious women take breaks, and that’s what weekends are for! So make sure to give yourself a good break! I know It can be hard to let go of work sometimes, but it can wait over the weekend. Overworking yourself can sometimes make for poorly make content. When the day ends. Stop. And take a deep breathe, dish and dine with your fave people!

4 Steps on Reorganizing Your Work Desk

Einstein may have argued that a messy workspace is a sign of a creative mind, I prefer however, an ‘organized mess’. That means lots of things but in an order the way I like it. This includes, greenery, cute stationary and everything on trend. Let’s face it – mess equals stress. 

So, to get your desk AND life in check, here are a few ways to upgrade your desk space. A happy space is a happy …. (I can’t find a fitting word that rhymes with space).


Declutter Your Desk

Decluttering is the very first step to upgrading your desk, as per the rules of Marie Kondo(link to her book, here!). If it no longer pertains to what you are doing right now, get rid of it! You don’t need a million post it notes from a month ago nor files of this that don’t mean anything to you anymore. Just let go!

Organize What’s Left

After decluttering, organize what you have at hand. Starting with your laptop files(I swear you feel like an organizational queen!) to the stack of paperwork  collecting dust and the useless spam emails that no one really reads. Keep your important items within your eyesight, but not too close too!

Personalize In An Inspiring Way

Personalize your desk in a way that is inspiring, but not distracting!(I find this quite difficult)Adding some flowers, motivational postcards and Instagram worthy stationery can really do the trick during a long day at work. 

Create A Ritual

Habits can be very powerful and to maintain a tidy desk, you’ve got to make it a priority. Create an end of the day ritual, what I like to do is that I write down all the tasks I have completed on my work calendar and at the end of everyday I write down what things I need to do on the next day. This really helps me start working in the morning, especially for a forgetful person like myself. Every week I like to also throw away all the pieces of paper I no longer need. Make a habit of creating an organized and productive work environment for yourself!

Ways To Have A Fit And Healthy Lifestyle Around Your Job

Currently, as I am writing this piece, I have been (actively) working as an apprentice in an architectural firm. If you have read my past lifestyle blogs, you would know that I am in the process of changing my lifestyle. I am a big fan of exercise, BUT I have to say that working a 9-6 desk/on-site job makes it very difficult to find time to work out daily. 


Actively Commute 

If your city offers a good transportation system to the public, then there is no excuse not to commute to work. But if you live in a city where the commuting situation is almost non existent, I have no choice but to drive. But to “stay active” or “keep moving”, I park a bit further away from my office building to force myself to walk and wake up earlier than usual to get a good parking spot.

Mentality Change

It is so easy to say that you undoubtably have no time for exercise with your long hours during the week. If so, take time during weekends to work out, which make you look forward to them all the more. 

A productive Sunday planning can make a great week! Take time to plan your work lunch meal plans, strategically schedule your workout sessions and dinner dates during the week. 

 

No Excuses

Find a workout that will stick to your work routine. In my case, I work from 8:30am till 6 in the evening. So usually by the end of the day, I am totally pooped from working all day.

But what I do to keep myself active, is that I wake up at 5:30am(I know, It can be tough) and get in a spin class then I dash home shower(and put some makeup of course!) then head straight to work! and sometimes with some time to spare! If that isn’t inspiring then I don’t know what is.

Upgrade Your Weekly Meal Prep

It is as easy as subscribing to a healthy meal subscription that can deliver straight to your office. But another way that I do is that I plan all the meals that I like eating and that are low carb based into a weekly planner to remind me on what meals I should prepare in the morning. And sometimes I throw in a few cookies here and there!

When it comes to packaging, I usually use those lock & lock tupperwares that are air tight and have dividers in them!
